LETTER FROM SMILETOWN'S MAYOR BROWN
Dear Friend,
Hi there, I’m Mayor Brown, the proud mayor of Smiletown! I speak on behalf of all the Frolics when I say Smiletown’s a great place to live. Smiletown is surrounded with splendid landmarks like Pine’s Forest. I like to go there and think; just walking under that canopy of green trees relaxes my mind. It’s neat how the dry pine needles scattered among the forest floor crunch when you walk over them, and the scent reminds me of the sweet syrup I like to put on my pancakes.
Frozen Lake is another majestic site, and Fisher Bob spends a lot of time there. He’d tell you the same thing he tells all Frolics, “Be sure to stay to your left when the trail forks, otherwise you might end up in Frowntown.”
I don’t know much about Frowntown. I know it’s always raining there, and Govn’r Grim is its leader. There’s a rumor that Govn’r Grim wants to live here in Smiletown, and he keeps dreaming up evil plans to get us to move away from our fine town. I don’t believe these rumors, but I must admit strange things keep happening around here. Once a snow machine mysteriously appeared in the Purple Crown Flower Field, and another time we were all standing on clouds!
I hope you enjoy reading about Smiletown, and remember you are always welcome here.
Sincerely,
Mayor Brown |
LETTER FROM SMILETOWN AUTHOR CHRIS KAUFLIN
Dear Reader,
Thanks for visiting smiletownbooks.com. I hope you enjoy my Smiletown series. There are a lot of lessons to take from Smiletown books, one of the most important being always look on the bright side.
A little about me…I love to spend my free time with my wife, Jen, my daughter, Caitlin, and my dog, Oliver. I’m a certified elementary school teacher, and I do a lot of substituting in Boulder, Colorado. My students call me “Mr. K.” I created Smiletown as a result of my love for writing, and I plan to continue developing Smiletown into a series of books for children everywhere to enjoy.
My wife Jen is the brains behind Smiletown Books. Besides being a great illustrator, she developed the business plan and pushed me to work hard. In other words, without Jen, there wouldn't be a Smiletown Books.
Thanks again, your business is very much appreciated!
Keep Smiling,
Chris Kauflin |
